Tiles are an important part in the history of Shiwan ceramics, with the reputation of "Shiwan tiles is the best in the world".
In the legend, at noon one day, a large number of terracotta tiles were made in the Ancient Nanfeng Kiln due to the needs of delivery. The kiln workers worked in the kiln under the burning sun. The completed tiles were directly placed on the ground in front of the kiln. However, the weather changed suddenly on the left with dark clouds and heavy rain, but the weather on right was still sunny, clear and bright. With the ancient Nanfeng Kiln as the boundary, the light and shadow changed rapidly. The rain was hitting the roof tiles on the left, while the sunlight on the right shone on the terracotta heap through the rain, with the golden light. The rain and the sunlight were interspersed with each other, and the colorful rainbows falling on the terracotta heap were like the rainbow bridge of the mythical world. Suddenly, flowers, birds, fish and insects around were signing around the terracotta tiles. In addition, the banyan tree at the end of the Dragon Kiln was washed by rain. The entire ancient Nanfeng Kiln became vibrant. The kiln owner who saw the scene did not rush to deliver the terracotta tiles, but reserved it for repairing the Gao Temple.
From the most traditional roof tiles to the artistic ceramic tile ridges with characters and stories, the Shiwan tiles have created a glorious history of more than 2000 years. In order to evoke the memory of traditional Shiwan tiles, the Ancient Nanfeng Kiln and Professor Wei Hua of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts use the Dragon Kiln in the Ancient Nanfeng Kiln to produce 15,060 pieces of ceramic tiles, and built them into "Guwa Waterfall". The landscape is open to visitors in front of the image of the ancient kiln, the latest attraction of the Ancient Nanfeng Kiln.
Whenever the sun is shining on Guwa Waterfall at noon, the rainbow is always faintly seen from the splashing water.
